
Hadleigh Voices Community Choir’s Safeguarding Policy
- Hadleigh Voices Community Choir (which includes all members) acknowledge that they
have a duty to take reasonable steps to protect those who are involved in or affected
by their activities, particularly if they are vulnerable adults, from all forms of
abuse including emotional physical and psychological abuse.
- Hadleigh Voices Community Choir will publicise its Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding
Policy on its web site.
- Hadleigh Voices Community Choir have nominated as Designated Person, Lynne
Middleton, who has an extended DRB-check for children and adults.
- Choir members shall report any concerns to the Designated Person. Detailed
Guidance is available from the Designated Person.
- In the absence of the Designated Person the matter should be brought to the
attention of the Chair of Hadleigh Voices Community Choir. A permanent confidential
record will be kept of the report.
- If any choir member sees anything, which concerns them or might be misconstrued,
they should speak to the Designated Person about their concerns as soon as possible.
The following procedure should be followed:
- When an allegation of abuse has been made do not approach the alleged perpetrator
about it.
- Follow the usual safeguarding procedure: Recognise, Respond, Record, Report.
- Once the allegation has been reported to the Designated Person, the Designated
Person may liaise with the relevant statutory authority
- Whilst waiting for an outcome from the statutory authorities, the person about
whom concerns have been raised will be supervised as closely as possible, without
raising suspicion
- A written record of all discussions with statutory authorities or other parties
should be maintained by the Designated Person and stored securely and confidentially.
- The policy and procedures will be reviewed annually by the Choir Committee.
